McLanahan Employees Attend Rally For American Energy Jobs

HOLLIDAYSBURG, Pa., Oct. 30, 2013 – In October, over 30 employees from McLanahan’s Pennsylvania facility joined nearly 4,000 other men, women and children from the coal industry in support of the Rally for American Energy Jobs. The rally, which was held in Washington D.C., gathered together 67 busloads of those that support the coal community to tell the current administration that energy jobs and the energy economy are at risk from heavy regulations on power plants.

McLanahan employees met early in the morning and boarded a shuttle to join fellow protestors on the West Lawn of Capitol Hill. Joining the rally were 38 members of Congress. Both Senate and House of Representatives members spoke at the rally, offering their support of affordable domestic energy.

In a statement from the National Mining Association (NMA), which played a large role in helping organize the rally, the NMA informed the public that the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) listening sessions for public input on greenhouse gas regulations for power plants were scheduled everywhere except for regions that produce or use coal. This rally gave the people most affected by coal the opportunity to bring their opinions to Washington, and McLanahan is proud that its employees were part of the day.
