Mineral processing generally refers to the practice of processing ores and minerals in order to separate valuable minerals from waste materials. All mined materials, from hard-rock ores to solid-fuel minerals such as coal, oil shale and industrial minerals, are subjected to some sort of size reduction and/or beneficiation process. McLanahan Corporation provides complete services and support for mineral producers.
From Process Design To Extending Wear Life
McLanahan provides mineral producers with everything from complete process design to field service and support for the life of your equipment. Our team of engineers can help you make the best possible equipment selections to ensure your site becomes more efficient, more productive and more profitable. For existing sites, we have also engineered proprietary metallurgies that are known to increase wear life five to six times in some cases.

Double Roll Crushers Helps Increase Production At Potash Corp. Allan
In 1968, Potash Corp. began producing potash at its Allan site, located just east of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan in Canada. The operation consists of both an underground operation and a surface processing plant, and produces four different grades of potash fertilizer – granular, standard, white soluble muriate and chicklets.
Their 2009 expansion project increased the production capacity from 2 million to 3 million tonnes per year. As part of the expansion, Potash Corp. Allan was looking to upgrade their crushing capacity and searching for a piece of equipment that would keep up with the demands of their application.
“When we were looking at purchasing and upgrading our crushing equipment for the plant here, I think we were looking for a piece of equipment that really was reliable and durable,” said Brian Gotts, Chief Metallurgical Engineer at Potash Corp Allan. “We have an operation we run 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and we needed something that we could depend on that won’t go down on us.”
Equipment Spotlight – Apron Feeders
McLanahan Apron Feeders are designed for applications that require moving high tonnages of material that is too severe for other types of feeders. Engineered for longer wear life in severe applications, Apron Feeders feature a continuous steel belt made up of overlapping flights, or pans, that are connected and supported by steels changes and an underside that is reinforced to withstand impact loading. Each McLanahan Apron Feeder is sized to fit exactly into each customer’s system, whether new or existing.
