Iron Ore

Iron is one of the most abundant rock-forming elements in the world and is also the world’s most commonly used metal. Iron ore represents the rock and minerals from which metallic iron can be extracted and then used to make steel. As a main ingredient in the production of steel, iron ore is part of the many structural buildings, automobiles and many other industrial applications, such as machinery.

McLanahan Corporation provides a wide array of solutions for the beneficiation of iron ore, including those for crushing, sampling, dewatering and more. Rock containing iron ore can be sized using McLanahan’s line of crushers, and then iron ore is recovered from other materials using various processes. Fine-grain iron ore is processed into pellets, before being sent to the blast furnace to form molten iron from which steel is made. Iron ore tailings and additional waste material can be processed using our Thickeners and Filter Presses.
